About J Dixon & Son Limited

Dixons, as they are known locally, is a family owned business. The late Joseph Dixon opened their first store in 1882 at 23 Queen Street in Whitehaven.

Today Dixons has a Department Store in Lowther Street, Whitehaven and a Home Store at Dunmail Park, Workington. They also operate two high quality and very popular cafes (The Roof Top Cafe in Whitehaven and The Terrace Cafe in Workington).

The business has a loyal and growing customer base and offers everything from the latest fashion, perfumes, gifts, art and crafts to home furniture, kitchenware and carpets. Customers can also enjoy a hearty meal or afternoon tea in one of the high end cafes.
